Photographer Marie Salmela

Mother, Nurse, Photographer.

A camera has been in my hands for over 15 years, ever since my time at art high school. Inside me burns a passion for photography and editing that continues to grow.

At my own wedding, I prioritized everything else over photography. I honestly thought no one could capture good photos of me—even though a photographer had taken beautiful graduation pictures of me five years earlier. Back then, I was quite indifferent to photography. Today, I see things very differently. If I could go back, I would kindly tell my past self that only the photographs remain.

The world of photography is vast and wonderfully complex. Wedding photography alone spans from documentary-style storytelling to model directing, light management, and technical expertise. I completely understand how overwhelming it can feel to plan so many aspects of a wedding—and then also choose a photographer. There are so many photographers out there, so where do you even start?

I recommend browsing through various portfolios and narrowing down the photographers whose style resonates with you. Sometimes it's hard to know exactly what you want—creating a Pinterest mood board can help you gather ideas and then compare them with possible photographers. Chemistry between you and your photographer is also incredibly important, which is why I'm happy to meet and chat before you make such a big decision. And you're always welcome to call!

My greatest goal is to photograph you just as I would want my own family and myself to be photographed. That means capturing the most important moments: the genuine connections and emotions between you and your loved ones. These are the moments that will become your treasured, timeless memories.
